You’re not sleeping in this burning world,
And you’re afraid of dreaming out loud,
Afraid the flames will get a taste for you,
Be left a prisoner of your forlorn desire.
I’m not going to lie but I can be present,
Walk with you through judgement of fire,
With the seeds of affection we’ve sown.
Maybe it’s the weather, or a different feather,
The ebbs and flows of our resistance –
Gathering ingredients for life and love,
For your own recipes and not by the book.
Suffering only teaches but never punishes,
The price of walking the road is forgiveness,
Every wisdom followed bravery thereafter.
Be radiant and let your power emanate,
Do not be afraid of these infinite varieties,
Seize them, and water those sweet saplings,
Let the composition of the great unplayed
In time reveal itself with your garden’s reverie.
Sing what you know and trust a little,
Trust is sexy, and faith is love persisting,
Let your shadows be shadows and play,
For every happy night there is a happy day,
Ears for every song, eyes for every poem,
Create when you use, help when you’re hurt,
There is an art to being and an energy,
A fullness to the time we spend and a place,
This is your dream, your life and your voice,
And it is your destiny for you to grow into,
Be free in your dreams and in your repose,
To listen is to sing,
To dance is to play,
To love, compose.
