Walking Out

Extending a slick hair hand,
He tried to pay you in pomade,
And sell you on a half moon,
To take your adoring light,
Without giving any darkness,
Neither compliment nor spark,
Hungry fire burning too bright,
Saying “put out or be put out ”

Stop now. Just stop.. STOP.

Pull the needle from this track,
Let the waitress fill your cup,
With the colours of breath and flow,
Swimming through your palette,
As delicately as the brush of fate
Sweeping precious tides,
Through the girl you used to know.
Throw your dreams into the sky,
Walk the shores at the starfall
Then collect your footprints,
Lest the wolf capture the scent.

Ride an elevator to Heaven,
Then fall into the shining sea,
Into the heart of your depths,
There by the clock of changes,
Lose your seconds to the hours,
Dance your moods in permanent marker,
Design your styles with hands and feet,
Empty rooms are far too neat,
An architect’s joy is not yours,
Not your lived in, sweated in leather.

Spill a little wine on your plans,
Take three lefts instead of a right.
You don’t have to make the road,

You just have to pull over,
To take a piss every now and then,
And get back in and keep driving
Just pick a card, any card –
Learn how to play to play,
And live to live another day.
